An All-State standout at Wheeling (W.Va.) High School, Gerald "Pee Wee" Myers was just as impressive at the collegiate level during the mid-1950s. Myers, who had led the OVAC in scoring and been voted MVP of the Ohio-West Virginia All-Star Game as a high school senior, scored three touchdowns in his first game on the hilltop and never looked back.
The speedy two-way starter helped lead the 1953 Hilltoppers to a 6-2 mark during his freshman season and went on to lead the WVIAC in rushing during his junior season. Myers was in the spotlight once again as a senior, leading the conference in rushing for the second time in his career while helping propel West Liberty to a 7-2 record and WVIAC championship in legendary head coach Joe Bartell's final year at the helm. Myers received a prestigious honor in 1962 when he was named to the All-Time WVIAC Football Team.
After graduating from West Liberty, Myers played football for the United States Army before returning to Wheeling as plant manager for General Machinists, Inc. He retired to Ormond Beach, Fla.
