Brian Edison was a standout wrestler for the West Liberty wrestling team from 1979-82 who closed out his career on a high note by earning NAIA All-America honors in each of his final two seasons.
Edison compiled a sparkling 76-21 (.784) record with the Hilltoppers but really came into his own as a 177-pounder during his junior and senior campaigns. He led the Hilltoppers in takedowns each of those two years and still ranks No. 5 all-time at the school with 297 career takedowns. His 143 takedowns during the 1982 season is fourth at West Liberty in any weight class while his 7 technical falls that year are No. 3 all-time.
Edison earned his first All-America citation as a junior when he finished second at 177 pounds in the NAIA national championship meet. The Hilltopper team captain followed that up with another runner-up finish at the 1982 meet to earn his second All-America honor.
After graduation, Edison moved to Columbus, Ohio where he established a highly successful carpentry and remodeling business.
