    Ashlea Bland was a tower of power in the paint from 2001-04 as she helped lead the Hilltopper women’s basketball team to four consecutive 20-win seasons and four NCAA Division II playoff berths during a stellar varsity career. She ended her career as the school’s career rebounding leader with 864 retrieves while ranking No. 2 all-time in points (1,628), blocked shots (154) and field-goal percentage (.577).
    Bland was a first-team All-WVIAC selection in 2004 after leading the conference in scoring (19.2 ppg.), rebounding (8.9 rpg.), field-goal percentage (.631) and blocked shots (1.6 bpg.). A two-time All-WVIAC Tournament selection and team captain, she was the 2004 WVIAC Tournament MVP after leading West Liberty to the tournament championship.
    Ashlea pulled off the student-athlete perfecta as a senior when she was honored as an NCAA Division II Basketball All-American and a CoSIDA College Division Academic All-American. In 2007, she was named one of the WVIAC’s Top 25 women’s basketball players during the league’s first 25 years of the sport.
    After graduating from West Liberty, she had a very successful career as a teacher and administrator with Ohio County schools.
