SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team finished off a busy weekend on a high note here Sunday, coming from behind to hand Shepherd a 5-4 loss in West Virginia Conference action on the Rams' home courts.
    Trailing by a 4-2 count with the final three singles matches still in progress, Coach Sam McCullough saw his Hilltoppers pull out three-set wins at No. 2 singles (Raphael Machado), No. 5 singles (Alex Hayden) and No. 6 singles (Darren Liebenberg) to complete the comeback.
    It was a nice bounce back for a West Liberty team that was coming off back-to-back 5-4 home losses to the University of Charleston and Concord on Friday and Saturday.
    Liebenberg was the only Hilltopper to go 3-0 in singles play over the weekend while Gui Lima and Hayden went 2-1 at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots.
    Ivan Irazabal and Machado swept all three of their matches at No. 1 doubles.
    The Hilltoppers close out the regular season at home on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. match against West Virginia State.
